Delayed Thank You

This is a story I should have told 7 months ago (Nov 2014).

I was returning from Pachuca, Mexico after doing an accreditation review of the American School of Pachuca. As always when you fly in the south, I had a connecting flight in Atlanta at Concourse D and a 3 hour layover.

After making it to Concourse D, I immediately looked for food since the in flight peanuts were no longer sticky to my backbone. I saw Famous Famiglia Pizza and thought it would be nice to have some pepperoni pizza. After standing in the "herd" line, I ordered two slices and sweet tea (no sweet tea in Mexico). I paid and then moved to the side for napkins and lemon. I gathered it all together and found a place to sit down, but it was in another area from Famous Famiglia Pizza.

The pizza was customary for airport fast food and the service had been customary (moving you through as quick as possible). I finished my two course meal. I then needed to find a rest room since the current tea had activated the small in flight soft drink. I used the facilities and leisurely moved to my departure gate, occasionally stopping to view the incredible prices on some merchandise.

As I approached my gate waiting area, a young lady in a uniform stepped up to me and questionably called my name. I was amazed that she knew my name. I immediately thought to myself, "I am being upgraded to first class." Then, I remember that I am going to Dothan and on the "regional jets" it is all first class. I responded back in my polite southern drawl, "Yes ma'am."

She introduced herself as Tamara Granger and she worked for Famous Famiglia Pizza. Then I thought, "I am receiving pizza for a year from Famous Famiglia Pizza." She continued to tell me that she found my wallet by the napkins and lemons section of the counter (better than pizza for a year). I further learned that she found my luggage claim ticket in my wallet.
She had contacted Delta to inquire about my flight to Dothan. She found the departure gate for my flight and had been waiting (20 minutes) for me to arrive. Immediately, everything went through my mind about what life would have been like if some other person had found my wallet.

To say the least, my eyes were sweating on the inside. She asked for me to confirm and make sure everything was there. Everything was there. I asked if I could give her a reward. She refused. I asked if I could make a donation to her favorite charity. She again refused. She said, "Just make sure you keep up with it." and she hurried off down the concourse. I then turned to the window and with tears in my eyes, I praised God for people like Tamara Granger.

So, if you are in the Atlanta Airport, Concourse D and you are hungry, go by Famous Famiglia Pizza and give them some business. I don't know if Tamara is still working there, but if they hire people like her, then I will gladly give them my business.
